2002-10-15 Does anyone know where we are anyway?

I thought that we might observe a minutes silence today or something....Y'know, being that 10 or 15% of the people in my department are Australians or New Zealanders.

We didnt.....

All the papers are talking about the 33 Brits that died in the blast, I s'pose thats fair enough, its a terrible thing.

But Im so angry, and Im sorry to all those folk who will think that Im being Anti- American or Anti- British, but fuck man, we arent Brits or Americans.

We're Australians, we have our own identity and its based on the fact that we are so multi-cultural and so far away from everywhere else.

And Im pissed off that we go along to every war that gets started, because we have to side with America or be part of the Commomwealth, when really what does it mean to us?

What the fuck is a war against "Terrorism" anyway? "Terrorism" has no borders, you cant fight an idea!

When I was in High School we learnt about the ANZAS treaty, this from my undertanding is basically a treaty with America that says that Australia will side with America when we are needed, but America reserves the right to NOT come to our defense.

(please correct me if Im wrong)

And why the fuck did we only get paid for Pine Gap with a symbolic pepper corn?

Why are our leaders so keen to bend over?

We are a very small peace loving nation, we are not a super-power!

And dont try and tell me that the only "interests" in War are to protect the "Common good"- because its bullshit.

I just want to know whats our "Interest" in all this?

Because there must be one.

There has to be a fucking good one to send our sons and daughters to the thick of it, when if not for "taking sides" there is no reason to hurt Australia anyway.

Its not about September 11, because it was going on long before that.

So yeah, pissed off and upset that there is no fucking thanks for the Aussies who are also risking their lives in this stupid war where there can be no winners.

And now for the survillians who are caught up in it too.
